How Utility Power Restoration Works
1. Preparation and resource planning
Before severe weather reaches a utility’s service territory, ElectriCom works with utility partners to evaluate potential resource requirements, crew availability, equipment needs and mobilization plans.
2. Crew and equipment mobilization
Crews, equipment and supporting resources are deployed to designated staging areas based on utility priorities, projected damage and field-access conditions.
3. Field assessment and restoration
Once conditions are safe, teams coordinate with utility personnel to assess damage, replace poles, repair conductors, restore distribution lines and address underground-system failures.
4. Reporting and final service recovery
Field production, completed repairs and remaining needs are communicated throughout the response. Crews continue working through final service recovery, documentation and project closeout.
Proven Utility Restoration at Scale

When Hurricane Helene caused widespread damage across Upstate South Carolina, ElectriCom mobilized approximately 300–400 power and telecom personnel to support large-scale utility restoration.
By coordinating both power and telecommunications crews, ElectriCom helped utility partners address damaged electrical infrastructure while restoring the communications networks communities depend on for safety and connectivity.
The response required rapid multistate mobilization, experienced field leadership, coordinated equipment deployment and sustained operations across heavily affected areas.
Response Highlights
- Approximately 300–400 power and telecom personnel deployed
- Coordinated restoration across electrical and communications infrastructure
- Rapid mobilization of crews, equipment and field leadership
- Scalable operations maintained throughout an extended recovery effort
